Review: Hollyland Wireless Transmitters

Mark Bourdeaux Lighting Cameraman & GTC member field tested our the Hollyland Wireless Transmitters. Read his review here: I tested the HDMI and HSDSI HD version of the new Hollyland sender and was mightily impressed. It came in a small neat case and seemed very strong, simple and well made. The TX I attached to the camera with some heavy duty velcro and the 2 replaceable antennae that stick out from the top were solid. It is powered by a d tap (to hirose) that I took straight out of my IDX batteries. It also had a plate for small Sony NP batteries if you prefer. The manual says it draws about 7 watts, so not to bad there, and I used HDSDI as I prefer the reliability over HDMI. The receiver is a bit bigger and just a rugged box with no external antenna. I kept that loosely in the portabrace bag for my Sony 7 inch OLEd monitor. All worked perfectly out of the box and they found each other straight away. The signal was sharp and didn't break up until about 100m away, and it reconnected quickly and automatically. I was in a fairly remote location when shooting so not much to interfere but it also worked well at home in south East London, through walls too, so really not much negative to say. It didn't get overly hot and if I had needed to change frequency it's just a small screwdriver selectable wheel on TX and RX like an older radio mic. All in all a faultless experience and the price seems keen too.  Mark Bourdeaux, Lighting Cameraman.
