DENZ FDC Classic – Back Focus Gauge for PL Mount Cameras

The DENZ FDC Classic tests the back focus ( flange back ) of PL mount digital video cameras  (e.g. RED ONE, Sony F55, ARRI D-20/21/Alexa, Phantom HD, Weisscam HS-2). It is an absolute must for all those who need to work with precisely adjusted cameras.

Checking the flange focal distance with FDC Classic provides an exact indication of the amount and direction (+ and -) of the deviation between the actual flange focal distance and the ideal flange focal distance. This allows  the combination of necessary adjustment foils (shims) required to correct the flange focal distance to be determined.

The application is very simple. After mounting the FDC Classic on the camera connect the video output of the camera to a monitor. The display will show two vertical green bars and a vertical red line. The  red line can be moved left or right with the FDC Classic's handwheel until it is centred between the green bars. The deviation from the required flange back can then be read off from the dial. If there is an error the required shims can be added or removed to correct the error.  With the DENZ FDC classic, controlling micrometers is that simple. *
