Sony VENICE Reviewed By Cinematographers & DOPs

Sony VENICE Review

Sony VENICE has been out for 2 years now and recently seen some impressive production credits added to its list. A while back we compiled a list of thoughts by DOPs & Filmmakers on using the VENICE on their shoots. Since then there has been many new releases and new directors getting the chance to try out the VENICE. So to mark 2 years since its release, here are VENICE reviews by DOPs and Cinematographers.

DOP Portrait: Ben Smithard

"That's what we're there for. We're there to make films that increase the beauty of the image."

In this interview, DoP, Ben Smithard, BSC, takes us behind the scenes of shooting Downtown Abbey with Sony VENICE.

DOP Portrait: Rodrigo Prieto

"It's not only the latitude of exposure, it's the latitude of colour. The millions of colours that you are able to capture on film. I find that the VENICE is able to capture that."

Watch to hear some of Prieto's personal tips and feedback from shooting with Sony VENICE.

DOP Portrait: Dante Spinotti

"Usually when you push a camera or a film strip, you will find drain, the contrast changes. You really compress the curve. With the VENICE it is not that case."

DOP Spinotti talks about his career and why he chose VENICE for his latest movie.

DOP Portrait: Thierry Arbogast

"The picture quality at 2500 ISO and the small form factor allow us to shoot inside any vehicle and make it very easy to use shoulder mounted or even hand held."

Longtime Luc Besson collaborator Arbogast shares with us his experience on his latest project shooting with Sony VENICE.
