The Mars 300 Gets Reviewed

Top-Teks asked two veterans in the industry to test and evaluate the Mars 300, against Hollylands' claims of being 'Affordable, Stable and Reliable'. The Mars 300 is a wireless transmission system with low latency and high quality video, that has an impressive 5 hours battery life. Mark and Adam have an impressive combined experience of over 40 years, so we were keen to gain their thoughts on their experience with the Mars 300 in a professional environment. "This is a great product for its price point. It was easy to use and set up was straight forward. Once both the receiver and transmitter where connected the signal was very strong. I had the receiver connected to a monitor, with the transmitter attached to the camera at times 2 floors below me and never once had any signal break up. I was also impressed with the build quality of Mars 300, its light weight yet feels solid and reliable. Its great if you’re looking for a competitive and reliable wireless system.  The down side of the device is its 1sec or so delay, but I feel If used wisely this effect can be minimised. For me the impressive constant signal strength at distance easily makes up for this issue." Upon Mark's experience on using the Mars 300 he found that: "The units worked right out of the box and connected first time on power up. The range was absolutely fine for my use – never any drop out with line of sight over the max 20m range we used it for. I didn’t have time to test to the limit. I liked the compact size, and the monitor brings options, though I just used my own Velcro to attach to the camera. I hate HDMI (always SDI for me in a professional environment) but at least they were full size, and I had no connection problems on this test. The most important thing is a solid signal, and this seemed to tick that box at the range that most people need it for a director’s monitor."
