What Filmmakers & Directors Say About VENICE in 2020

There has been now over 200+ productions using Sony VENICE, including feature films, live broadcast and commercial videos. With so many new projects, we have decided to share more experiences about shooting on VENICE. You can also view our previous compilations of DOP & Director opinions about Sony VENICE in our past blogs. For now, here is what filmmakers and directors think of Sony VENICE in 2020.

DOP PORTRAIT: OLIVER MILLAR

“My favourite tool of 2019 was the Sony VENICE. You can set up that sensor AND the physical camera body whatever way you want.”

In Sony's Lockdown DOP Portraits, Oliver Millar talks about the art of shooting hit music videos and bringing a dark, 80s look to The Weeknd’s 'Blinding Lights'.

DOP PORTRAIT: BENOIT DELHOMME, AFC

“When I heard about rialto, I thought there the camera is so small, I can work as if it was a photo camera. Look for the right frame like a photographer.”

Benoit Delhomme, AFC talks about his career and gives us a behind the scene look at his last movie staring Johnny Depp.

DOP PORTRAIT: BEN KUTCHINS

“The Rialto is a huge reason why we chose the VENICE... That is something that we used a lot. In tight spaces, shooting in a car, and often to get a camera closer to a wall.”

Ben explains how switching to the VENICE full-frame camera impacted his creative choices when shooting Ozark: Season 3.
