HDC-F5500V

The HDC-F5500V is a Super 35mm 4K CMOS Camera System with a pre-installed variable ND Filter. This unlocks additional creative control for broadcast operators, offering a more cinematic feel. This new 'V' version gives exposure controls that are normally only available with Sony's Cinema Line, in turn making this camera preferable to a cine camera with a fibre attachment when covering live events.

Super 35mm 4K CMOS sensor and global shutter

At the heart of this camera system is Sony's Super 35mm 4K CMOS sensor. Bringing new creative possibilities to live production, the HDC camera series, this large sensor achieves high sensitivity with an impressive signal-to-noise ratio. It's teamed with proven global shutter technology to capture stable, precise 4K (UHD) images even with fast-moving subjects: ideal for sport and live entertainment productions involving LED displays and laser beams.

Optical variable ND filter

Seamless variable ND filter* without any visible physical filters changing allows for smooth transitions between different lighting conditions. Additionally, the system supports both high frame rate (HFR)* and flexible depth of field control, making it well-suited for sports applications where capturing fast-paced action and dramatic shots is essential. The variable ND filter is pre-installed, enabling smooth exposure adjustments without compromising image quality.

Pre-installed VF slide mechanism

With the pre-installed viewfinder slide mechanism, camera operators can achieve improved functionality by minimising their body movements during panning. This feature is especially useful in cramped spaces like tracked dollys, stadium platforms, and scaffolding, where limited mobility can hinder the desired shots. The pre-installed slide mechanism enhances shooting flexibility and usability, with a smoothly-sliding viewfinder that can be moved closer to the axis of tripod rotation to reduce changes in the viewing angle, making it perfect for various shooting environments.

Supports multi-format and high frame rate shooting

The 4K format is available by installing the optional software “HZC-UHD50,” and the 4K 119.88p format, in particular, achieves an overwhelming high frame rate (HFR) for sports and live video. This HFR allows for smooth and clear visual expression even in fast-moving scenes.

Additionally, user gamma and RGB 4:4:4 output can be utilized in HD environments by installing the optional user gamma/RGB 4:4:4 software “HZC-UG50,” supporting vibrant and colourful video production.

Simplified brightness control with Virtual IRIS

Take complete control over your exposure settings with our camera system’s Virtual IRIS, enabling effortless adjustments to brightness between lens IRIS/variable ND/master GAIN using a single joystick. Capture stunning visuals in any lighting condition with precise and seamless control, while taking advantage of the intuitiveness of our user-friendly interface.

Unified INTERCOM panel

Integrated design of the INTERCOM panel, which boasts controllable PGM3, TRACKER VR, and earphone MIC across all models, ensuring a consistent layout for customers worldwide. The controllable settings encompass PROD/ENG/OFF, while TRACKER and PGM3 can be easily assigned to different functions.
