The Blackmagic SDI Expander 8x12G is a high-density, bidirectional conversion solution designed for advanced SMPTE-2110 broadcast environments. Engineered for efficiency and performance, it simultaneously converts eight independent channels of 12G-SDI to SMPTE-2110 while also converting eight separate SMPTE-2110 channels back to 12G-SDI—all within a single rack unit.

This dual-direction capability delivers up to 16 channels of real-time conversion, making it ideal for hybrid SDI/IP workflows in live production, broadcast studios, and large-scale AV systems. With dual 100G Ethernet ports, the unit supports SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted signal delivery in mission-critical environments.

Additional features include a dedicated NMOS control port for streamlined IP device management and dual redundant AC power supplies for maximum operational reliability. The SDI Expander 8x12G is a powerful tool for bridging traditional SDI infrastructure with modern IP-based broadcast systems.
