Fujinon's Cine Lens for Live Broadcast: The HZK 25-1000mm

The Fuji HZK25-1000 was first seen at InterBee in 2022. The first box lens compatible with sensors larger than Super 35mm, covering an image circle of 28.5mm across the whole focal range of the lens. ( Super 35mm diameter is 27.78mm ). Utilising the 1.5x Expander / Extender the lens can be used on Full Frame sensors. With an aperture of F2.8 at the wide end, and F5.0 at the tele end, the lens is much quicker than any similar Super 35mm barrel lens.

The lens is designed to be operated in the same manner as 2/3” Broadcast Box lenses utilising Fuji Zoom and Focus servo demands but It is possible to interface Cine style Focus Controls from such manufacturers as Arri if required.

There is increasing demand for Live events to be shot in a cinema style with large format cameras. These cameras offer higher Dynamic Range, shallower depth of field, higher resolution etc. The large format lenses offer a more immersive feel with cinema style Bokeh. Zoom lenses made for cinema do not have the range required for Live Events where the camera position may be some way away from the action. The Fuji HZK 25-1000 offers all the flexibility of a traditional Broadcast Tele Box Lens but with the quality and feel of a cinema lens.
