New firmware for Sony Burano just released
21st May 2026
Sony has just released their new V3.00 firmware update for the Burano, providing new features and capabilities to suit live, events, documentaries, sports and even anamorphic.
The new update adds a full-frame 5.8K 6:5 imager scan mode for 2x anamorphic shooting. Allowing for the use of larger format glass with the new 6:5 capture area that in turn removes the need to crop. As a result, this provides users with an anamorphic X-OCN workflow and closes the gap between Burano and Venice 2.
With the increase in interest for Burano within the live, sports, events and documentary fields, this update also provides another new scan mode – Super 35 3.8K 16:9 at up to 120fps. Providing high frame rates in high resolution.
V3.00 also includes a complete rebuild of colour peaking, providing support for selecting edge detection methods. As well as new operability benefits for Real-time AF, with multi-selector input through the joystick as opposed to just with the touchscreen.
For live and multi-cam productions, V3.00 offers support for HLG Mild, simplified SDR display and SDR Gain, as well as expanded S700P functionality, with remote control of FPS, Shutter and Saturation commands. RDD18 metadata has been added to the SDI output (in Monitor FHD mode), providing camera setup and exposure information through the SDI.
And much more…
