September 2026 Round-Up: Kicking off a busy season with PLASA and IBC

The autumn tradeshow season is officially underway, and our team has been fully immersed in the action, kicking it off exhibiting again at PLASA Show 2026 and taking in all the latest from the industry at IBC Show 2026.

From new cinema camera viewfinders to powerhouse lighting fixtures and advanced PTZs, the industry is delivering some new innovative solutions.

Fujifilm VF-GFXC2: The GFX Eterna 55’s EVF Final Design

Following up on last year's prototype, Fujifilm showcased the final design of the VF-GFXC2 electronic viewfinder built specifically for the GFX Eterna 55. Featuring a native 4:3 panel (2048 x 1536 resolution) that matches the camera's open-gate sensor, up to 1,000 nits of brightness, and a robust machined aluminum housing, it’s an exciting addition for operators looking for a dedicated high-end EVF.

 

Teradek’s: Ace Micro TX & Bolt 7

Teradek showcased their latest tech at IBC:

• Teradek Ace Micro TX: Teradek's smallest zero-delay wireless video transmitter allows creators to stream up to 4K 30p uncompressed video directly to an iPhone or compatible cameras via a single USB-C cable (supporting DP Alt Mode) up to 500 feet away.
• Teradek Bolt 7 Series: Claimed to be the biggest upgrade to the Bolt series since its launch in 2013. The Bolt 7 introduces an all-new 900MHz RF pipeline running parallel to zero-delay 4K video. It functions as a wireless Ethernet and USB cable replacement—enabling native camera control, live color grading (like Pomfort Live Grade), telemetry, and shading without a Wi-Fi network.

 

Sony RM-DP7 & RM-DP5 Cinema Line Monitor Controllers

Sony expanded its range with the new RM-DP7 (7-inch) and RM-DP5 (5-inch) monitors. Designed to tightly integrate monitoring and camera control, these high-brightness (2,000 cd/m²) touchscreen units feature dedicated side control knobs, focus-pulling wheels, and robust aluminium builds. They currently support the FX2, FX3, FX30 and FX5 (with plans to add support for the BURANO and FX6 in 2027).

 

Portkeys LH5PIII Touchscreen Monitor

For creators seeking high-end monitoring without breaking the bank, Portkeys introduced the LH5PIII. Boasting a 5.7-inch, 2200-nit touchscreen with a 2160x1080 resolution (allowing you to display 1920x1080 with additional information outside the image). It runs the redesigned MOVNORM OS and offers both wired and wireless camera control for an affordable $399.

 

Nanlite FC-1200B & FC-1200C

Nanlite's ever-popular FC series received an upgrade with the addition of FC-1200B (Bi-Color) and FC-1200C (Full-Color) fixtures. Delivering 1350W of total power draw, an all-in-one design (integrating the power supply and control unit directly into the head), and massive output (over 14,000–15,000 lux at 3m with a 45° reflector). These Bowens-mount fixtures are built to light up large spaces, work well with big softboxes, and could suit demanding commercial or indie sets with ease.

 

Broadcast, PTZs, and Infrastructure

• PTZ & Studio Cameras: Sony launched two new compact, lightweight 4K PTZ cameras with 4K 60p support and enhanced pan/tilt performance, alongside showcasing their HDC-R Series system cameras. Meanwhile, Panasonic introduced its powerful AW-UE200 PTZ camera featuring a 1.2-type Global Shutter 5K MOS Sensor with oversampling, ultra-high speed to ultra-low speed performance and Seamless IP System Integration. Whilst Movicom advanced their specialised camera robotics for live broadcast production with fresh D2 enhancements.
• Leader rolled out the new SX2 handheld TM-series test and measurement equipment.
• Cinematic Live and Motion Control: RED Digital Cinema displayed their Cine-Broadcast showcase, highlighting how RED’s portfolio can be implemented to bring cinema image quality to the speed and scale of live broadcast. Whilst ARRI also demonstrated various Live setups including of course the ALEXA 35 Live, Live Xtreme cameras and even an ALEXA 265 in a live configuration. MultiDyne Robotics Motion Control - MRMC exhibited for the first time as part of the MultiDyne organisation, displaying their exceptional engineering.
• Fujifilm also showcased the impressive Fujinon UA94x8.7BESM 4K broadcast zoom lens, the latest addition to their range of broadcast lenses. Capable of wide-angle establishing shots as well as immersive close-ups, it offers the ideal balance of performance, versatility and cost effectiveness.
• Whilst Canon had on display their new CN30x40 IAS J R1/P1 CINE-SERVO Lens, offering an ultra-telephoto reach of 1200mm with a 30x optical zoom and a built-in 1.5x extender, all in a portable design – making it ideal for high-end live broadcast and sports production.
