Sony HDC-P50A with the HKC-VND50 Variable ND option

Sony’s newest system camera the HDC-P50A having the HKC-VND50 option fitted. The VND50 gives the receiving camera a variable ND Filter. This option is compatible with HDC-P50, HDC-P50A, HDC-3500 and HDC-5500.

In simple terms, the Variable ND option allows the camera to have a shallower depth of field by fixing the Iris of the lens then adjusting exposure by using the Variable ND, which offers a seamless transition, emulating an iris (Virtual Iris).
