Our new Sony VENICE Base Cine Kit is the ultimate creative partner for your camera: reliable, functional and convenient. Forming a complete cage around your camera, the Cine Kit lets you mount to both ARRI BUD dovetails and ARRI standard dovetails – for complete convenience at all times.

Built to last from high-grade aluminium, the Base Cine Kit gives you everything you need to get shooting.

Double Dovetails

The difference between ARRI BUD and ARRI standard dovetails is confusing, even to industry veterans. But with the VENICE Base Cine Kit, you don’t have to figure out which one to use: just use both. The Kit includes our Universal BUD Plate for mounting to BUD surfaces, which includes sliding onto the top of the LeftField 3 BUD-Compatible Baseplate – also included. This features our flagship Open•UP system for easy lift-off from ARRI standard dovetails, so it has never been easier to slip between setups.

15mm LWS Support

With both the BUD Plate and Baseplate, your VENICE’s image sensor is set to the 15mm LWS standard height: making it easy to mount matte boxes, follow-focus and much more from the included Drumstix support rods. This makes camera prep easy every day: from initial tests through to wrap.

Clean Customisation

Our redesigned cage for the VENICE maximises rigging options whilst minimising its footprint. The new Side Plates design feature integrated NATO rails and ARRI rosettes; as well as the standard suite of 1/4"" and 3/8” screw threads. Each accessory mount comes with built-in safety features, such as an easy-press catch or locating pin threads, to ensure all accessories are kept safe.

Easily Handled

For carrying your camera around, our D-Style Master Handle gives you a convenient carry point. The rubber inlay in the grip keeps your hand comfortable even on long hauls between setups, and the handle features its own array of accessory mounting options and optional Handle Extensions.

Compatibility

The Sony VENICE 1 & 2 Base Cine Kit is designed to fit the Sony VENICE 1 and Sony VENICE 2 series of cameras: with the shape and size of the cage mounting to dedicated screw threads. The D-Style Master Handle, Universal BUD Plate and LeftField Baseplate can be used with other camera systems; using universal systems of mounting.

Instructions/Assembly

The Sony VENICE 1 & 2 Base Cine Kit Mk II comes with all required components and screws. You will require your own flathead screwdriver as well as a 3mm and 4mm Hex Key in order to install it.

BUD Plate to Camera

1. Align the screws of the Universal BUD Plate with the 1/4″ and 3/8” screw threads on the base of the VENICE.
2. Use a flathead screwdriver to attach the BUD plate to the camera.

Top Plate Core to Camera

1. Align the four 1/4″ mounting points on the Top Plate with the threads on the VENICE body – the locking lever should be on the camera-left side.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to secure the core to the camera.

Dovetail to Top Plate

1. Slide the Dovetail plate in from the rear of the camera.
2. When positioned, tighten the clamp to secure the dovetail in position.

Front Rod Console to Top Plate

1. Align the Rod Console up or down on the front screws.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to attach the Front Rod console to the corresponding threads on the Top Plate.

Right Side Plate to Cage

1. Align the Right Side Plate with the screw threads on the right side of the Top Plate and BUD Plate – the ARRI rosette should be towards the bottom, and the Side Plate should sit towards the front of both plates.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw the two M4 screws on the base into the BUD Plate, and a 4mm Hex Key to screw the one 1/4"" screw into the Top Plate.

Left Side Plate to Cage

1. Align the Left Side Plate with the screw threads on the left side of the Top Plate and BUD Plate – the ARRI rosette should be towards the bottom, and the Side Plate should sit towards the front of both plates.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw the two M4 screws on the base into the BUD Plate, and a 4mm Hex Key to screw the one 1/4″ screw into the Top Plate.

Top Handle to Top Plate

1. Align the two captive 3/8” screws with the central line of captive screw threads on the Sliding Top Plate.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to attach the handle to the plate.
