Easy Rigging

Whether you're a camera trainee building your first setup or a solo-shooting cinematographer, flexibility is everything. The FX5 Advanced Kit offers an extensive range of accessory mounting options, giving you the freedom to rig exactly how you want.

Mount accessories using the integrated 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 anti-twist threads, attach straps via the dedicated QD sockets, or take advantage of the built-in NATO rail for quick-release accessories. And that's just the Top Plate.

Top Performance

Need extensive rigging options while keeping access to the camera's Multi Interface Shoe or EVF mount? The NATO Top Plate features a removable filler section that can be taken out with just a few turns of a hex key.

Removing it sacrifices only a handful of mounting points while opening access to the camera's digital outputs. Connect the FX5 EVF with an extension cable and position it wherever suits your rig best—the choice is yours.

Get a Grip

The FX5 Advanced Kit forms a complete cage around the Sony FX5, providing generous mounting space while maintaining a compact overall profile.

The Right Side Plate follows the camera's contours for comfortable handheld operation and adds multiple 1/4"-20 accessory mounts. Opposite, the NATO Wing Grip sits slightly offset from the camera, improving handheld comfort while maintaining easy access to the camera's ports. It's also packed with both bolt-on and quick-release mounting options.

Open Rigging

The FX5 Bottom Plate is designed for maximum versatility. Twin mounting screws and anti-twist lips keep the camera securely aligned, while the integrated Arca-compatible dovetail makes mounting fast and effortless.

Run a lightweight setup by attaching directly to an Arca-compatible tripod, or expand into our OpenRig™ ecosystem when building a more comprehensive cinema rig.

Smooth Handling

The Create Top Handle mounts directly onto the integrated NATO rail for quick installation and even faster removal. Built-in magnets automatically centre the handle on the Top Plate, making setup quicker and more precise.

Expand the handle with our Master Handle Extensions, or add a low-profile monitor using the Top Bar Bracket and Rod Mount system.

Seamless Shooting

Whether you're balancing the camera on a gimbal or operating a fully built cinema rig, the FX5 Advanced Kit is designed to stay out of your way.

The cage maintains excellent access to buttons, ports and controls, with dedicated cut-outs for dummy batteries, drop-in filter housings and tidy cable management.

Go Vertical

The Sony FX5's Open Gate sensor makes it ideal for delivering multiple aspect ratios. When your project demands vertical content, simply mount the camera in portrait orientation to make full use of the sensor.

Pair it with our NATO Clamp for Vertical Shooting to reposition the Wing Grip and maintain comfortable handling in vertical mode.

Compatibility

The Sony FX5 Advanced Kit is purpose-built exclusively for the Sony FX5, with mounting points and accessories designed specifically for the camera.

The NATO Top Plate provides access to the Multi Interface Shoe and EVF mount once the removable filler section has been removed, while the Bottom Plate features an integrated Arca-compatible dovetail for use with compatible tripods and receivers.

The NATO Top Plate is not compatible with Sony's XLR handle or the standard EVF mount. For XLR handle compatibility, use the Floating Top Plate. If you're using the detachable EVF, the Corner Top Plate provides the appropriate solution.

Instructions/Assembly

The Sony FX5 Advanced Kit includes all required components and mounting hardware. You'll need your own 2.5mm and 3mm hex keys for installation.

Bottom Plate to Camera

1. Align the two mounting screws with the threaded holes on the base of the FX5.
2. Tighten both screws securely using a 3mm hex key.

Top Plate to Camera

1. Position the Top Plate so the mounting screws align with the corresponding threads on the FX5 body. The NATO rail should extend over the lens mount.
   
2. Tighten the top and side mounting screws using a 3mm hex key.

Top Handle to Camera

1. Slide the NATO clamp onto the NATO rail. The built-in magnets will automatically centre the handle.
   
2. Tighten the lever clamp to secure the Top Handle.

Side Plate to Camera

1. Align the lower screw with the threaded insert in the Bottom Plate and the upper screw with the mounting point on the camera body.
2. Tighten both using a 3mm hex key.

Wing Grip to Cage

1. Align the lower mounting screw with the forward mounting point on the Bottom Plate.
2. Tighten the screw using a 3mm hex key.
3. Align the upper mounting screw with the corresponding thread in the Top Plate.
4. Tighten securely using a 3mm hex key.

HDMI Clamp to Cage

1. Align the HDMI Clamp with the marked mounting point on the Top Plate.
2. Insert the HDMI cable and position the clamp so the flat section of the connector sits flush against it.
3. Tighten the clamp using a 2.5mm hex key.
4. Secure the cable by tightening the thumbscrew.

USB-C Clamp to Cage

1. Position the USB-C Clamp over the threaded mounting point on the lower left side of the Bottom Plate.
2. Secure it using a 2.5mm hex key.
