At the heart of the Expert Kit is our LeftField Mini Baseplate, featuring Bright Tangerine's patented Open•UP quick-release mechanism. Open the latch halfway to slide freely along ARRI standard dovetails, or open it fully to lift the camera completely clear of the mount in seconds.

Get a Grip

The FX5 Expert Kit forms a complete cage around the Sony FX5 while maintaining the camera's compact footprint.

The Right Side Plate follows the camera's contours for comfortable handheld shooting and provides multiple 1/4"-20 mounting points. On the opposite side, the NATO Wing Grip sits slightly offset from the camera for improved handheld balance while maintaining easy access to ports and controls. Like the rest of the cage, it's packed with both bolt-on and quick-release mounting options.

The cage preserves excellent access to the camera's controls and connections, with dedicated cut-outs for dummy batteries, drop-in filter housings and tidy cable management.

The Sony FX5 Expert Kit (LeftField Mini) delivers a complete 15mm LWS workflow, positioning the camera at the correct optical height through the included riser and LeftField Mini Baseplate.

The cage is purpose-built for the Sony FX5, while the LeftField Mini features Bright Tangerine's patented Open•UP quick-release system for ARRI standard dovetails. The Bottom Plate also incorporates an Arca-compatible dovetail, allowing the camera to be mounted directly to compatible Arca tripods and receivers when required.

Instructions/Assembly

The Sony FX5 Expert Kit (LeftField Mini) includes all required components and mounting hardware. You'll need a 2.5mm and 3mm hex key for assembly.

Bottom Plate to Camera

1. Align the two mounting screws with the threaded holes on the base of the Sony FX5.
2. Tighten both screws securely using a 3mm hex key.

Top Plate to Camera

1. Position the Top Plate so the mounting screws align with the corresponding threads on the FX5 body. The integrated NATO rail should extend over the lens mount.
   
2. Tighten the top and side mounting screws using a 3mm hex key.

Top Handle to Top Plate

1. Slide the NATO clamp onto the NATO rail. The built-in magnets will automatically centre the handle.
2. Tighten the NATO lever clamp to secure the Top Handle.

Side Plate to Camera

1. Align the lower screw with the threaded insert in the Bottom Plate and the upper screw with the mounting point on the camera body.
   
2. Tighten both screws using a 3mm hex key.

Wing Grip to Cage

1. Align the lower mounting screw with the forward mounting point on the Bottom Plate.
2. Tighten the screw using a 3mm hex key.
3. Align the upper mounting screw with the corresponding thread in the Top Plate.
4. Tighten securely using a 3mm hex key.

Riser to LeftField Mini

1. Align the four M4 screws with the four outer mounting holes on the LeftField Mini Baseplate.
2. Tighten all four screws securely using a 3mm hex key.

Arca Receiver to Riser

1. Align the mounting screws with the threaded holes on the underside of the Arca Receiver. The engraved "G" logo should face the front of the rig.
2. Secure the Receiver using the supplied flathead screwdriver.

Bottom Plate to Arca Receiver

1. Open the Arca Receiver lever clamp.
2. Slide the FX5 Bottom Plate into the Receiver.
3. Close and tighten the lever clamp to secure the camera.

HDMI Clamp to Cage

1. Align the HDMI Clamp with the marked mounting point on the Top Plate.
2. Insert the HDMI cable and position the clamp so the flat section of the connector sits flush against it.
3. Tighten the clamp using a 2.5mm hex key.
4. Secure the cable by tightening the thumbscrew.

USB-C Clamp to Cage

1. Position the USB-C Clamp over the threaded mounting point on the lower left side of the Bottom Plate.
2. Tighten the clamp securely using a 2.5mm hex key.
