Need to move from a fully built rig to handheld shooting? The Expert Kit makes transitions quick and effortless.

The FX5 Bottom Plate features an integrated Arca-compatible dovetail, allowing you to release the camera from the rig in seconds using the Arca Receiver. If you need to move the complete setup instead, the OpenRig™ Rail can also be quickly removed from compatible Manfrotto tripods and DJI gimbals.

Get a Grip

For handheld shooting, the Expert Kit offers two comfortable handling options.

The FX5 Right Side Plate follows the contours of the camera, preserving the familiar grip of the bare camera while adding mounting points. For balanced carrying and low-angle operation, the Create Top Handle mounts to the Halo via NATO and automatically centres itself using integrated magnets.

Compatibility

The Sony FX5 Expert Kit combines accessories purpose-built for the Sony FX5 with universal OpenRig™ components.

The Right Side Plate and Bottom Plate are designed specifically for the FX5, while the Halo Universal Camera Cage and OpenRig™ system are compatible with a wide range of camera platforms.

The kit supports both the Sony FX5 EVF and Sony XLR handle, although clearance between the Halo and the XLR handle may vary depending on positioning.

Designed specifically for the Sony FX5, the Bright Tangerine FX5 range provides filmmakers with a modular ecosystem built for professional production. From lightweight handheld setups to fully equipped cinema builds, every accessory is engineered for durability, precision and long-term reliability.

Instructions/Assembly

The Sony FX5 Expert Kit (OpenRig™) includes all required components and mounting hardware. You'll need a 3mm hex key for assembly, plus a 2.5mm hex key for installing the cable clamps.

Bottom Plate to Camera

1. Align the two mounting screws with the threaded holes on the base of the FX5.
2. Tighten both screws securely using a 3mm hex key.

Side Plate to Camera

1. Align the lower screw with the threaded insert in the Bottom Plate and the upper screw with the mounting point on the camera body.
   
2. Tighten both screws using a 3mm hex key.

Corner Top Plate to Camera

1. Position the Corner Top Plate so the mounting screws align with the threaded holes on the upper left side of the FX5 body. The open end of the Cold Shoe mount should face forwards.
   
2. Tighten the screws securely using a 3mm hex key.

HDMI Clamp to Cage

1. Align the HDMI Clamp with the marked mounting point on the Corner Top Plate.
2. Insert the HDMI cable and position the clamp so the flat section of the connector sits flush against it.
3. Tighten the clamp using a 2.5mm hex key.
4. Secure the cable by tightening the thumbscrew.

USB-C Clamp to Cage

1. Insert the USB-C cable into the upper and/or lower cable slot on the FX5.
2. Tighten the corresponding clamp using a 2.5mm hex key.
3. If the clamp becomes over-tightened, press the marked section to relieve pressure before readjusting.

Arca Receiver to Arca Base

1. Align the mounting screws with the threaded holes on the underside of the Arca Receiver. The engraved "G" logo should face towards the front of the rig.
2. Secure the Receiver using the supplied flathead screwdriver.

Bottom Plate to Arca Receiver

1. Open the Arca Receiver lever clamp.
2. Slide the FX5 Bottom Plate into the Receiver.
3. Close and tighten the lever clamp to lock the camera in place.

Arca Base to OpenRig™ Rail

1. Slide the Arca Base into the centre channel of the OpenRig™ Rail. The integrated safety stop allows you to position the camera precisely before locking it.
2. Tighten the winged lever clamp to secure the Base.

Halo to OpenRig™ Rail

1. Slide the Halo Universal Camera Cage onto the dual NATO rails of the OpenRig™.
   Position it as required, then tighten the winged lever clamp to secure it.

Top Handle to Halo

1. Slide the Create Top Handle onto the Halo's upper NATO rail. The integrated magnets will automatically centre the handle.
2. Tighten the NATO lever clamp to lock the handle into position.
