Sound Devices 833 - Portable Production Mixer-Recorder

Compact, powerful, and fully routable, the Sound Devices 833 is the ideal professional mixer-recorder for modern location sound.

The Sound Devices 833 is a compact, professional mixer-recorder designed for mobile and small productions. Lightweight and bag-friendly, it combines a tactile interface with dedicated faders, trim controls, and PFL switches for fast, intuitive operation in demanding production environments.

The 833 features 6 mic/line preamps, 8 channels, 12 tracks, 6 analogue outputs, and ultra-accurate timecode. With the optional +4 Plugin, it expands to 12 channels and 16 tracks. Its advanced processing architecture, shared with the flagship Scorpio, makes the 833 fully routable, allowing any physical input to be routed to any track.

With two SD card slots and an internal 256 GB SSD, the 833 can record to three media simultaneously, providing a practical workflow for production handover and backup. It also offers analogue and digital I/O, multiple powering options, and dual L-Mount battery charging.

Advanced features include three-band EQ, Dugan Automixing, MixAssist, and optional NoiseAssist and CEDAR sdnx plugins for real-time noise reduction. Dedicated comms and slate, multiple mix buses, and remote control via the SD-Remote app make the 833 highly adaptable on set.

The 833 can also be expanded with the SL-2 Dual SuperSlot Wireless Module for wireless audio, or up to 16 channels of wireless audio with the Astral ARX16 and A20-QuickDock.
